Guide to Bi-fold and Tri Fold Futon Mattresses

There comes a time where we have to make the difficult decision on what kind of futon mattress we want to have in our lives. Luckily this blog will give you an insight on what makes our futon mattresses unique.
Before we start we will go through the basics, we range two types of futon mattresses one being the Tri-fold and the other being the Bi fold. The tri fold futon mattress is an S shape and is for a two seater style frame. The Bi-fold futon mattress is an L shape which folds down the middle and is a three seater style. The main purpose of these mattresses is to fold up into a sofa and roll out as bed. Therefore we carefully select the right fillings that allow our customers to complete this task with ease. Now that we have the basics out the way let's talk fillings.
Our futons use layers of cotton fillings which are a premium filling, we have use cotton since we started making futons over twenty years ago. The main reason why we still use cotton in all our futon mattress because its breathable which keeps your body at its natural temperature and allows you to have a more of comfortable sleep. Cotton has become a rarity in the futon market nowadays. Because most futon manufacturers are using poor quality fibres such as wool-felt. Wool-felt is very dark fibre, looks like roof insulation and is used in the low end bedding market, it is then blended with a large amount polyester to give its Loft / Shape, but very quickly will matt down and loose its shape.
Below are the Core fibres we use in our futons.
Our standard core we use in our tri-fold and bi-fold futons is polyester, the reason we use polyester in the centre of the futon is because it aids the mattress into its fold and stops the cotton filling separating and losing its shape.
The Foam we use is high grade seating foam which gives the mattress more structure and will make the mattress softer.
Pocket springs (Our futo-flex mattress) is one of our newest upgrades which is a 3cm low profile spring and is a very good upgrade for seating and sleeping as the mattress will contour to your movement.
Wool is another natural fibre we use in our mattresses, wool has the natural ability to keep your body warm in winter and cool in the summer furthermore it’s more sustainable and long lasting.
We understand that our futon mattresses maybe used for different situations, for example it might be a mattress in guest room that gets used occasionally or it may be a mattress that is used every day. With this in mind we give you the ability to upgrade your futon mattress by choosing from our fillings such as cotton, wool, foam and pocket springs in order to achieve the ideal level of comfort and durability.
